"Va’ Pensiero" in Odessa The Whirligig # 364

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "Lion" by Tina Chang: chewed, pursued, moved, mother, modern, morphed, rust, taste, waiting, tree, hunger, dappling

waiting for the bombs to fall

people pursued chewed up spat out

hunger in their bellies

moved to underground railway stations

the taste of blood and rust morphed into fear

a child crying over his dead mother

hugs a tree in the dappling sunlight

we call it modern day warfare-

  1. Stunning! Masterful use of the Whirligig words. Thank you. And may the brave souls of Ukraine never submit to the tyrant.

  3. Difficult to let the reality sink in for such unfortunate innocents.
