For this week’s challenge, write about the spirit(s) of place where you live and have your being in.
i'm at home
in all the rock formations around the harbour
in ocean pools along the sydney eastern beaches
i'm at home
with the currawongs kookaburras cockatoos and wallabies
i'm at home
in the outback listening to the butcher birds and that bastard wombat trying to tear down the
foundations of the house
along with all the other assorted lethal creatures lying in wait to topple me
I have lived in lots of places and have adapted to all of them
darwin would be proud of me
Coonabarrabran NSW
perhaps i have a touch of the extra terrestrial about me
besides not all who wander are lost

Wow, what beautiful photos. You live in amazing beauty....that gigantic wombat looks like it could do damage to a house for sure. Wow. I loved reading about your place in the world.
ReplyDeleteYes tis true Sherry....tragically Australia is a country which is losing species to extinction at a faster rate than anywhere else in the world...Unless there are some serious changes made immediately none of this beauty is ongoing....Elections in 2 weeks...hopefully a new government might improve things.Cross your fingers for us !
ReplyDeleteWe never quite appreciate fully how unique and special our local abundance is -- nowhere but Australia so many exotic species -- a landform with a special ancient florid history -- thanks saying their names. Fingers indeed crossed for your upcoming elections.
ReplyDeleteI believe Darwin would be proud of you! Take it from a fellow wanderer...
