this takes me back
to a time when
it was always summer and smiles
life was a brighter colour sprinkled with magic
the long long road ahead was so far away
a mere dot on the horizon
we thought it would never end
but it did end
and now we have arrived at the pointy end of life
rickety and aged
no longer beaming beauties
or dancing queens
inevitable maybe
but not recommended

I have a handful of song that do that for me, take me back... I've noticed the more that more I vintage, the harder the shock of the return trip. Yep, age is an inevitable gift (not always recommended).
ReplyDeleteVery aptly and pithily expressed. But I still think, as some canny person whose name I forget once said, 'the alternative's worse'.
ReplyDeleteOur poems are on the same page today. Now I don't feel so alone.
ReplyDeleteBut you have the beautiful memories, nice write
ReplyDelete"and now we have arrived at the pointy end of life

ReplyDeleteAge is not a factor to meet the end of the light. Meaningful lines.
