melbourne cup fever
everyone  has a bet
respite from the dramas
for an afternoon

 


a small gathering
at the local pharmacy
celebrated the melbourne cup
( the race that stops a nation)
it was a surprise
phillip the big hearted pharmacist
shouted his customers
to champers lindor chocolates and fresh strawberries
we watched the race on the big screen
thank you darl
i backed a french horse called absurde
he lived up to his name
by running in the wrong direction 

 

 


fashion and flowers

a race that stops a nation

the melbourne cup




sunshine smiles and laughter

not all  spring flowers are

grown in the garden

celebrations later on

will make for a long night

  1. I love this so much! My grandma loved the horse races. When I was a kid, she took me sometimes to races in the next small town. She loved watching the big ones on tv. Her fave was Northern Dancer. LOVE that the pharmacist treated you all to Lindor. What a treat, and I enjoyed the photos, especially the ladies with their big hats. This was such a treat, Rall. A lovely glimpse of something happy. We all need that.

  9. I can feel the atmosphere in your words. The Melbourne Cup is popular in NZ as well. The people here are very much into horse racing. We have cup day in Christchurch and all are dressed up as on your photos
