TANKA TUESDAY # 20

dog days of summer

many many years ago

we were both so young

i always remember you

when i hear our summer song

my life has changed now

things have turned out differently

lots of household chores

i chop onions to Purcell

streaming eyes sound the trumpet

  1. I was thinking of someone from long ago just this morning. I wouldn't try to get hold of them, but it was a fond memory. Things do turn out differently from what we imagined, way back then.

  2. Well done, Rall. Poetry and music - they flow together. 😊

  3. I identify with your onion chopping, but I had never heard your beautiful musical choices. Great poem! Are you happy with the way things turned out? What amazing voices those men have!

  4. Isn't it interesting how a song will pull us right back into the past? And just because it turns out differently doesn't mean it isn't still beautiful. Great poem, Rall!
