there will be
consequences for sure
teaming up
with our yankie mates
together
building the nuclear submarines
for our defense
our largest trading partner
remains sinisterly silent
they wont be happy
wonder what they have planned for us
we wont like it
that’s the trouble with inviting
the fox into the chook house
never a good idea
the poets know that
even blind Freddy
can see that
the pollies?
just dazzled by the trade dollars

Dazzled by the trade dollars indeed. Well said. Nuclear submarines? Oy, what a path the world is on. The consequences will be dire. I love the image and quote up top.So apt.
ReplyDeleteOh Rall, I wish I knew more of the story behind this. Checked Google and found that the UK will work with Australia to accomplish this? And then there is Australia's largest trading partner (China) remaiing silent. Indeed, a treacherous situation. The world is filled with them!
ReplyDeleteYes Britain is also involved but our chief ally is America. ..the reason your politics is crucial to our well being. At the moment there seems to be some very serous problems over there concerning your ex President. I am sure the Poets did not vote for him. It is still mind boggling to me that he was initially even accepted by the Republican Party and allowed to be a candidate.
DeleteVery serious problems indeed! When one thinks it can't get worse, it does. Politics really has increased my stess level 1000-fold.

....This silence is so scary. That Mekas quote is like a warning.
A tricky situation, Rall, and it’s always worrying when your ‘largest trading partner remains sinisterly silent’. I trust the poets.
ReplyDeleteWell put -- and to think the fate of the world lies in such money-grubbing hands is troubling to sa the least.
ReplyDeleteIt is a nonsense. Any sub we buy, 30 years hence, will be totally vulnerable sea-going, AI controlled drones that are in all likelihood available today. (Look at Ukraine for instance.) Gone, day one. We need good domestic defences, not providing a proxy US navy for fighting other people's fights. Grumph!
