no way
i'm not sleeping
with any of you dwarves
one day a prince will rescue me
i hope
oh dear
this voice is not
going to lure a prince
a voice that could cut glass causing
migraines
snow white
a fantasy
some found out the hard way
fairy stories are not real life
just tales
like love
romantic tales
great to watch on tv
in reality does not last
for long
princes
come at a cost
and far too high a price
some gals are not lucky in love
ever
meanwhile
find other gems
that make your life worthwhile
meaningful treasures bringing joy
real love

I smiled all the way through this and heartily agree. I so enjoyed this poem! A fun read, containing some home truths. Smiles.
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile my favorite part...
ReplyDeleteprinces
come at a cost
and far too high a price
maybe, you have to meet a lot of frogs until you find the prince...
"princes
ReplyDeletecome at a cost
and far too high a price" Indeed. I like how you start the poem with the 7 dwarfs vs. a prince, and then deflate the idea of a prince. Good stuff.
Why wait for a prince when you can celebrate the small pleasures of life! Jae
ReplyDeleteThe first one made me laugh, Rall, and the second I totally agree with. Why did Disney give Snow White a voice that could cut glass? It’s true, though, princes (and princesses) do come at a cost.
ReplyDeleteLovely lines. The last stanza is precious.
ReplyDeleteGreat lines and i like how it progresses. Good Stuff.
ReplyDeleteA wise poem for sure!! thank you annell
ReplyDelete"a voice that could cut glass causing/migraines" Haha! So true. Among many truths in the poem, Rall.
ReplyDeleteGosh.. looks like one line caught many of us.. "princes come at far too high a price" that authenticity strikes home and is a perfect response to the "undoing" of the "fairytale"
