W3 WEEKLY PROMPT ... FRIDAY WRITINGS # 175...POETS AND STORYTELLERS UNITED

coughing and sneezing
flu season is upon us
raining day after day
the sky an army blanket of grey
frogs are having a field day
croaking in jubilant harmony
time to bring out the fur rugs
autumn leaves not drifting by
my rain splattered window
lie in soaked heaps
a paradise for mosquitoes
time to make chicken broth
grandmother's penicillin cure all
the supermarket symphony
plays its seasonal overture of
coughing and sneezing

  4. A poem that gave me the feeling of a damp chill creeping under the door! Nice!

  6. Rall, I love how your poem loops back to its opening—like the season itself circling round.

P.S. could you please email me at DVDBGMLNY at GMAIL dot COM? The reason I ask is that you could be selected to be our "Poet of the Week" for W3 at some point in the future, but I don't have any way of contacting you directly if this situation arises. Thanks!

  7. Ha, and I so happened to come down with the flu on Sunday. Yes, it's almost raining every day over here too, but I think I caught it in a overcrowded subway train. I shall try some chicken broth as you suggested. :)

  8. These seasonal hours are really bad but the chicken broth is so inviting.
