FRIDAY WRITINGS #229 P0ETS and Storytellers UNITED

she has
by circumstance
by health and necessity
lost almost everything materially
and strangely does not care

what remains will suffice
a warm bed with cushions and furs
shelter food and drink
shared poetry blogs
her  balcony palms
the tree tops waving
at her through the window
bird song in the early morning
her grandmother's  lovely smile
and warm hugs

these are the
the wonderful things
that remain with her
before the ferry man comes to collect her
for the ride across the Styx
and most importantly
music
music
music
give me excess of it.

  2. Yes! We learn what is really important. (I much enjoy music too, though jazz and blues more than the classical you love – but what I am having a rapturous excess of is reading! Reading-for-pleasure, of course; not for notions of self-improvement.)

  3. That is about the life Mrs. and I have at our Senior Living apartment now. We do have a TV though. And our meals are cooked for us.

  4. Hi there! I believe the message in your poem is what holds so many of us together. It doesn't take much to enthuse me ... music and literature for sure. [throw in a few Major League baseball games and I am euphoric.]
