Carpe Diem Haiku Kai
We are as the flute and the music in us is from thee...Rumi
i catch the sad notes
drifting across the arafura sea
hold them close and cry

exotic pasty cringe crescent jailer
stew ledge emerald filter noise
the pasty crescent moon
peeped over the clouds
on a quiet evening
all the city noise filtered
in the distance
she stood on the ledge
watching the waves
bubbling like a stew
throwing her emerald ring
into the ocean
cringing at the thought
of her very exotic jailer

Haibun
When icicles hang by the wall
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail
And Tom bears logs into the hall,
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When Blood is nipped and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, tu-whoo: a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
When all aloud the wind doth blow,
And coughing drowns the parson's saw,
And birds sit brooding in the snow,
And Marian's nose looks red and raw
When roasted crabs hiss in the bowl,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, tu-whoo: a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
And Dick the shepherd blows his nail
And Tom bears logs into the hall,
And milk comes frozen home in pail,
When Blood is nipped and ways be foul,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, tu-whoo: a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.
When all aloud the wind doth blow,
And coughing drowns the parson's saw,
And birds sit brooding in the snow,
And Marian's nose looks red and raw
When roasted crabs hiss in the bowl,
Then nightly sings the staring owl,
Tu-who;
Tu-whit, tu-whoo: a merry note,
While greasy Joan doth keel the pot.

Electric light orchestra - Don't bring me down video
memories
of a carefree party age
before the time
of facebook
before
reading text and never
having to be alarmed
by someone's genitals
flashing in your face
(sexting)

memories of a time
before the scourge of
crystal meth
' ice '
before the religion of peace
set the world on fire
resulting in
millions of refugees
with nowhere to go
before the time
of 'me' mine
not in my back yard
nothing and no -one else matters

before rigid conformity
took hold and strangled
free thought

before technology
created zombies
attached to smart phones
