Sunday Muse # 198 + Earthweal OLW #105

swimming

means getting wet

an umbrella

offers a little protection

against drenched ringlets

but not against sharks

they didn't want to know simple simon

so he got two owls instead

turned out well

one of the girls

a fancy pants

decided to play at

witchcraft

it worked

 but no beginners luck here

she wrecked the wrong house

they are both now homeless

surprise surprise

they are seeing simple simon in a new light

endless possibilities

they cannot imagine how they overlooked

his attractiveness and in particular his  generosity

Wordle # 274 ...MLMM

perish the thought

no off the cuff stuff

on stage

ad._libbing results

often in a garbled read

sounds like middle english

best to have all the material

at ones fingertips

diana and the golden apples

 jason and the golden fleece

are greek myths not true stories

if your phone conks out

press and jiggle

it still probably wont work

Sunday Muse # 197 ,,,Earthweal Open Link Weekend # 104

 thoughts of you

dear madame defarge

tricoteuse tragic knitting away

as the heads were displayed

the crowds cheered hooray

the streets ran like rivers of blood

the drums beat to the continual thud

people moved out because of the smell

an aristocrat's life became sheer hell

things had changed since the time of plenty

now their houses ransacked were all but empty

let them eat cake

she shouldn't have said

being a smart arse sadly

can cost you your head

Earthweal Weekly Challenge ...The Wild and Sacred Place

her special place

will always be the pacific ocean

east coast nsw australia

her playground as a child

her wild and sacred place

her home

she knew every rock

 in the bogey hole

some dont seem as big

as before

 she knew some secrets

that lie beneath the waves

wedged into the rocks

they are still there

floating on her back

she  used to look up

at the silent planes so high

mere specks in the sky

dreaming of visiting far away places

she did

she's back

she  will never leave again

Earthweal

 in a porsche

parked by the lake

she sat glued to her

mobile phone

engine running

air con on

like so many of them do

she does not see

the black swan or the cockies

having a punch up

over a bread crust found on the grass

or anything much at all really

unless it's on television

Michael Leunig

corellas (cockies )

black swans

beautiful  elegant creatures

inspire composers  to write cello pieces for them

gliding effortlessly across the lake

best to remember

nature is full of surprises

 never to be underestimated

This poem is my response to earthweal weekly challenge: THE SWAN.

the party's over

time for change

a new beginning

if we're lucky

if not

hang on tight

rough ride ahead
