Bye Bye Blackbird...RWP Prompt 120 A song from the era of the Great Depression

To be sung to the tune ' Bye Bye Blackbird'

Here I am alone again
Running scared
In deep despair
Bye Bye Blackbird

No-one is awaiting me
No-one cares
No-one shares
Bye Bye Blackbird

No-one here can love or understand me
Have few friends and grief is all they hand me
Have no home have no life
All I know is hurt and strife
Black Bird Bye Bye

If you'll have me
I declare
to care for you
and comb your hair
Bye Bye Blackbird

I will sing
write poems for you
open champagne
cook ragout
Bye Bye Blackbird

I will be your friend and make your dreams come true
Pare your corns and massage you with cologne and perfume
Go on be a brave boy then
Take a chance with a sad plump wren
Black Bird Bye Bye

  4. What is it that makes those blackbirds end up having to try out a sad plump wren? What is it? This is clever, coy and comical. Love it!

  7. I came by for the second prompt of RWP, but I like the mood and the repetition in this one. Nice.

  9. I've never heard this song, but I like what you did with the prompt. Agreed with Derrick: I don't think you're a sad plump wren either.
