BTP
playing yoyo
being frivolous and madcap
can be inflammatory to a
conventional group of flamingos
whose rehearsed choreography is
meticulous smug and can land one
yoyo tied and stuck up in a tree
mother always said never play
your yo yo in front of a crowd
no good will come of it and you
will find yourself at the
end of a reed with a brass bell
stuck in the back of your head
So inventive and quirky, I love it. Lovely juxtapose with yo-yos and flamingos!
ReplyDeleteThis was fun, as well as a warning ;-)
ReplyDeletevery sense making ...loved playing yoyo while young.
ReplyDeletelove the conclusion in the end, well done.
Here is My Entry, Thanks for reading!
Enjoy a lovely weekend.
That was brilliant you found teh video to go with the poem. Ah but sometimes you just got to risk it with the yoyo
ReplyDeleteWhat do you use to polish the brass? Bon ami? Or... I love this piece.
ReplyDeletehoney haiky...Glad you enjoyed this and nice to meet you
ReplyDeleteAnthony..yes , best watch out for your yoyos mate;-)
Thanks Jingle. Enjoy your weekend too!
Cathy.Nice to neet you..I've been risking it with the yoyo for quite a while now., It's a game I excel at.
Thanks for the interest Blossom Buds. I always use Gumption . I find the Bon Ami doesn't do a good job:)Please don't hesitate to ak me for any more helpful household hints.
This leaves me laughing. I do seem to remember my mom saying something similar. LOL I like the photos, too..that is a whole story in one shot. Bravo!http://judyidliketosay.blogspot.com/2011/03/searched.html
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised that you Yo? I tried, failed dismally, and eventually managed a couple of the simpler tricks, but never mastered any. sigh
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember this bit of Fantasia. Disney may have been a reactionary fart, but he put out some wonders. Love that sense of glee. (Of course, that's what gets you in trouble)
I like that brass bell. Percussion always seems to be having fun
Nice to see you here Judy. A lot of new faces on BTP.Glad you like the photos.
ReplyDeleteWell Barbara, you could be right about the glee factor but as Auberon Waugh says life is made up of the nice and the sourpuss nasties. So I'll go for glee, even if means pirouetting through the land mines of the horror hags.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how good this is!? I don't usually watch the videos but this one tempted me and now I'll feel compelled to from now on. What a fun, happy stuck poem you wrote. I'm smiling.

Thank you Victoria. Feel chuffed to be the bearer of some smiling moments into your life.
ReplyDeleteA shiny little poem, Rall! I never could yoyo! I was so relieved when my son knew instinctively how to work the orb so it would walk the dog and do other quirky things.
ReplyDeleteAnd Mother ALWAYS knows best!
We just finished watching Frozen River, as per your recommendation! Many thanks for the suggestion! The scene with the infant was so moving and then I loved the way the older brother took care of his younger brother. Very sweet.
ah, the warnings of our parents. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Carolee.
ReplyDeleteMarianne, I'm pleased you liked "Frozen River" . I agree, the success of this movie was the portrayal of genuine warmth between the characters and yes that scene was truly gripping.
I'm going to be politically incorrect now ( my PR doesn't work on the weekends:)and say that I don't think a male could have directed this movie as well.
Courtney Hunt did a brilliant job and hopefully you Amirkins will produce more like her and give her lots of work.Lovely wet Sunday afternoon here ...taking a short walk up the road to see
to a FFF movie .Hope to see you next week.
Cheers
Rall
And I meant to add that I adored those dancing, yo-yoing flamingos! How do you manage to find these marvelous snippets?
