A Leopard Fond Of Her Spots

she thought
she had found it
that connection
that had always
eluded her

she was the type
who would kill
for her cubs
he fell with ease
into that category

bleeding and humiliated
blade pointed
at his throat
ready to be sliced

con brio- she struck
leopard like
lethal and quick

and he - war torn
and weary
looked her straight
in the eye and said
"how could you be so cruel " ?

  1. dang....that last line leads me to wonder at what started this all and i hope that it was not a mistake in her strike...

  2. The strike saved him and she took the brunt and became the scape goat.So yes, her strike could be viewed as a mistake.Maybe not the strike but the mistake being misplaced loyalty to the undeserving!

  3. Misplaced loyalty is definitely a mistake. Sometimes a person doesn't know it right away though, which seems to have been the case in the poem.
