Ars Poetica

the poet's eye sees all
the mind's eye hears music
feels
 hot tears
 terrible pain
effusive joy
the delicacy of love
white hot imagination
and all in little word grabs
small packages of
crystal clear inspiration
carried on the backs of
words
velvet words
murderous words
poets
masters who
can wield  swords
or
 unleash soft white doves
conducting with
a pen
a baton
laden heavy weighted
with humanity
and enormous power

  6. You say it exactly like it is, the poet as a wielder of a sword, a baton, bending meaning to his will.

  7. Especially liked: "poets
    masters who
    can wield swords
    or
    unleash soft white doves
    conducting with
    a pen
    a baton
    laden heavy weighted
    with humanity
    and enormous power"

you capture the poet in a powerful, and a musical way - showing his/her facets as he/she creates!

  8. And yet .... metaphor, simile and analogy can only be understood if one comes to know the poet. A true poet offers so many layers of interpretation. And who can really know another person through the medium of words?
