Childhood Memory...Dverse

my world changed at four
seeing this for the first time
i had discovered love

a gift a flurry of
emotions that fairy tales
had not stirred

they looked askance
at this little alien
in their midst

i remember someone saying
'i think she has been here before'

followed by frown and hushes
from my poor mother who had hoped
i had not heard

  2. Beautiful. I can see how watching this would change a four year old's world. It's magical. :)
Loved your poem. The video is wonderful. I wonder who made the cartoon? It doesn't have any credits on there.
Thanks for sharing. Lovely piece of music isn't it.

  3. We had it too. Actually this poem is not accurate..My first musical awakening was when my mother used to sing lullabies to me in my cot and I remember wishing she would stop because she did not sing in key.I did not write a poem bout this because I thought it would make me sound too strange:)

  4. interesting bit that, that they could see that perhaps you had been here before...esp at four if you were feeling such emotions....

  8. i think sometimes things happen that the grown ups find no way to explain it...funny that they thought you've been here before.. i like things that go a bit out of the normal and make us re-think things..

  9. Smiles. There are moments with little ones that do make you think they're "old souls."

  10. I was an 'old soul' child. Grown ups use to confide in me.

  12. There is nothing I could ever write about my mother that would sound strange, to me. Other folks, their ears curl back!

I was another "old soul," at home in the corner while grownups played poker, and finally dealt in the game when I was 7.

This moment is a telling event in your own history, and I loved every moment of it! Your Old Soul Sister, Amy
