a first- rall comes out of cake
farewelling doddles
retirement pressie
to keep you grassed and grounded
enjoy your cool thongs
First sight may not be what it seems...nice and cute haiku...and thanks for letting me know of Haiku Horizons....
ReplyDeleteGet a flock of 400 them demolishing the neighbour's cotoneaster and...well, you would be glad you didn't have a hangover.
ReplyDeleteThey are very destructive birds but are comical and entertaining. I sometimes wonder if the berries they eat are hallucinogenic.
DeleteThey certainly seem to be off their twig.
DeleteNow that is one of the coolest-looking Cockatoos I've seen! Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteThings are not as them seem at first look. Not at all. Maybe not even on the 43rd look. Very nice poem. Glad to see you could make it to Horizons.
ReplyDeletevery cool!
ReplyDeleteAppearances are often deceptive, yet first impressions stay deep in memory.
ReplyDeleteits a lovely haiku !
ReplyDeleteI missed this.
ReplyDeleteYes, Dodo will be retiring soon and will not be inviting Mr Fry to any party. One objection, if I may be so bold, I do not like sharing a post with a cockatoo, It is demeaning to my species. Surely you could have devoted a separate post to this momentous event?
Yes, I know, I know, I am being ever so slightly narcissistic but I am entitled to on this occasion. But thank you.
I thought I would put the birdies in together. The little corella reminds me very much of you:) It is non pc for Dodo birds to discriminate against Corellas.

Nothing rude, I assure you. Just that you would I'm sure look "good enough to eat. An old expression that you may not have heard in Australia.
ReplyDeleteAdjective:
"good enough to eat"
1.(idiomatic) Supremely beautiful; aesthetically pleasing. The colours in this artwork are "good enough to eat".
