Marmalade Heart

Poets United
Midweek Motif

she lost her heart  a while ago
to an indifferent  chef
it got buried in a mush marmalade
which blew up in a microwave

if she finds it again
she resolves  to take better care of it
not throw it away
like ripped confetti
in a ticker tape parade

present it perhaps
carefully gift wrapped
to a serious philosopher
a Plato or Descartes

who can ponder epistemology
and who may well conclude
like the chef
elle n'existe pas

  1. You are a poet . . . therefore you exist . . . meaningfully!

  2. I laughed and laughed up til that last, but then realized that you left the end undecided. Bravo for the poem and the entire presentation, which is so fine I'm wondering if it should be a video on vimeo? Wonderful and full of Heart, proving its own existence.

  4. This is witty, but leaves an existential question at the end. I, too, like the marmalade mush.

  6. I say wait for someone a little lighter. Someone who would want to run through a ticker tape parade with her!
