dverse: poets united
orange purple white and green
a striped awning over the kiosk
flaps in the light breeze
against a backdrop
of electric blue plumbago and
red hibiscus
growing behind the low sandstone wall
convict pick marks still visible
on shell white sand
dotted with bright umbrellas
striped deck chairs
bodies of all colours
shapes and sizes
strewn over the beach
adorable little tots
in bright pink plastic sun specs
with minature boards
gambol and frolic
on the waters edge
a birthday party is happening
with bottles of champagne
plates of summer fruits
prawns and cold chicken
on a swanky boat moored too
close to the shore
squealing tanned blondes
with rockmelon boob jobs
in micro bikinis dive off the deck
china pretends not to notice
and in wet suits
we swim out into the
sun's reflection
patterned and wavy on the crystal clear water
two figures bathed in gold
ah - love me a sunny day on the beach.. all the life and activity... would love to go on a swim right now... stormy and cold over here...
ReplyDeleteYou have set a beautiful scene here. I am jealous of anyone who can make a beach visit when I am bundled up in my warmest clothing. Enjoyed all the details you have included. (One of your best.)
ReplyDeleteWhat a magical place to swim in..gold at the end of the rainbow..
ReplyDeleteI am envious of the place & weather ~ Lovely colors specially the swatch of gold ~
ReplyDeleteOh you really tease me with all that beach magic... tantalizing.. and so much to observe and see... quite different from a subway in february :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a scene. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteSitting here, cold and wintery, this is a wonder to read, and imagine. One forgets about summer, in winter!
ReplyDeleteHiya, Would especially love to be here and your line really made me smile:

I can see it all! Lovely ending.
ReplyDeleteI liked how you juxtapositioned the convict marks with the birthday party and champagne. Beautiful places see sorrow and joy.
ReplyDeleteVery vivid poem! Thanks for sharing your warm each! I can dream!!!
