Exodus... Paradise Lost

there was an exodus
north bound
from the cities

artists dreamers
musicians writers
found a shangrila

a place of extraordinary beauty
great beaches
cheap land and houses

it was a secret for a long time
then  came the drug addicts
then someone told the world

tourist buses drive by
twice a day
for a scenic drive

they followed us here
it has lost its very soul
now it's time to leave

paradise lost
inevitable
nothing good lasts

  6. This could be so many places. I think of Tahiti and Hawaii. I visited Hawaii when it became a state in the late 50's. It was so pristine. And now. And Tahiti in '89 when I visited was also overrun with tourists. It is so sad.

Re: your comment on my blog--so correct.

  8. Yes, to see those beaches and houses where those writers live. Sounds not much like I want.

  9. Paradise gets further and further away. What was once your own has become ugly and its beauty gone.

  10. Happened so many places here in the USA too. Very sad -- but I love this series though.
