Dashing Away With A Smoothing Iron

3WW

just because
i am thinking
about my darling nana
dashing away
with her smoothing iron

pink cheeked contented nana
when her arms wrapped about you
there was not a safer place
in the world

the singer treadle evolved
into an electric one
the gas copper into
a washing machine

but a dish washer
non non non non
she would say
with sober inflection

  2. What would she say about the internet I wonder? I still use my fountain pen now and again - I bet she would too.

  3. Yes ...along with hankies with a dab of cologne, letter openers, and
no mugs or paper napkins :)

  4. I am sure those Nana's do still exist. Well I even remember with no Fridge draping the milk bottle with a damp cloth and the iron was heated up on the gas ring. Our radio's battery was recharged down the electrical shop. Of course Nan and Granny were the source of unfailing love.
