i'm late i'm late i'm late
for a very important date
no time to say hello goodbye
i'm late i'm late i'm late
no time to smell the roses
no time for old friends
no time for reflection
careers all consuming
tied to cell phones
tied to the trap of consumerism
energy expended on making dollars
for '
must haves '
the right job
the right clothes
the right car
the right house
the right spouse
the right children
the right current values
= success
all the rabbits
a mirror image of each other
basking in reflected glory
all doing well
Midweek Motif PU
lovely, the sarcasm is lucid yet poignant, to think of the way energy is spent
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Satire rather than sarcasm.
ReplyDeleteWell the rabbits did try to take over Australia, perhaps their rule of law would have been better.
ReplyDeleteThought this was rather brilliant :)
ReplyDeleteHa, the rat race is likely more enervating than energizing, LOL........I did enjoy the satire.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Well done! And that mirror image might make some of us look in the mirror. Do you know the "children's" book MoMo by Michael Ende? It's about the same thing but I never put it together with Alice's rabbit until I read your poem. The energy and rhythm of living with anxiety are just right.
ReplyDeleteNo I don't but I will check it out.
Deleteouch!...i always enjoy your ironical glance tinged with humor...very penetrating indeed. ...a perfect 'modern times' :)
ReplyDeleteWell yes, they do put a lot of energy into these pursuits – though I think it saps their true vitality.
ReplyDeletehaha! this is so true Rall. Amazing write still smiling here.
ReplyDeleteWe never were fond of rabbits - but who are they to know what is late, early, on time or right and wrong...we all go at our own pace i suppose
ReplyDeleteIndeed! The never-ending race to the grave...
ReplyDeleteSee how fast the rats of the rat race run! :-)
