Blue Lagoons For The Weekend

waiting at the pub
for a lift home
on this cold  clear
pale yellow winter's afternoon
'benny and the jets' filters through
the last of the late dusk light

a corner of my heart splinters

i remember
two  young people
drinking blue lagoons
at this very table
all those years ago

it is so sad
the unravelling of these two
each flattened
by the rogue waves of life

i order one

from a fledgling barman
affecting
a pair of quizzical eyebrows
like question marks
obviously
has no idea what i am talking about

  4. Not recommended for those who don't drink regularly ( like me)..Lethal after one sip !!!! Nowadays these blue drinks have names like blue bombsicles and sex in the driveway. Yes...tells you everything
    PS
( I am very boring too now:)

  8. I started singing Bennie and the Jets at once upon seeing the first image....so sad when memories are further weighed down with an ignorant barman.

  9. "Each flattened by the rogue wave of life" is a brilliant line! Such memories do zing the heart. I love the barman's quizzical eyebrows. He sounds too young to understand much, LOL.

  10. Oh, the 'unravel' is so heart-wrenching....and there is something about
Bennie and the Jets that just gets me every time, right from the first
note...so I completely loved this float along the 'blue lagoon' of
    memories, Rall ;-)

  11. The opening chords get me started as well. Something very positive about it.

  12. Hmm better to have the memories even if they are only pressed between two pages. Here's to hot summer nights and younger selves.
