Wind Surfing

like giant butterflies
skimming over the waves
powered by the wind

big boofy blokes
ballet dancers of the sea
cut a swathe through the ocean

superb to watch
only two weeks into winter
summer sunshine sizzlers
cannot return quickly enough
ten weeks to go - who's counting?
i am

  1. I love the idea of them as butterflies, skimming the waves. They are a delight to watch!

  2. When I lived in Florida, I used to go watch the wind surfers and their more insane bretheren, the kite surfers. It was beautiful seeing the stunts they pulled perpetuated by the wind. Beautiful capture.

  4. I like that big boofy blokes can glide like butterflies on the ocean - they's a sense of hope in that - and yes..counting the days fore fine weather is a must

  7. Always wonderful to watch windsurfers float and glide up in the sky - as you say, Rall, even big boofy blokes can become as graceful as ballerinas up in the air! Nice one!

  8. PS: Thanks for your comments in my blog, I've crawled a little bit into my shell these past few weeks sorting out "stuff", I'm about to come out into the open soon...
Fine by me to use my poem on your PG section (Sounds like a movie rating!)

  10. Used to work down at Port Melbourne. Whenever a storm came across the bay (any season), suited guys who looked like young accountants pulled up, changed into their wet suits and wind-surfed off to who knows where. Wimp, I stayed on the warm side of the windows.

  11. Oh well..wimps serve a purpose:)In stone age times the wimps stayed behind to keep the women warm in the caves while the hunters went out to get food:)
