Acceptance

we are indoctrinated
by the media
to accept change
regardless
of our personal beliefs

secular values rule
out with the old
in with the new
we have freedom now
conditional
to upholding the prevailing
liberalism
cultural marxist cant

if we do not
then
the thought police will point fingers
make accusations of 'phobic'
tagged on to just about everything
with other assorted pejoratives

so a lot  sit quietly sensibly saying nothing
warn their children in hushed tones
to be careful not to express certain views
outside the home
reminding them of the consequences
remembering what happened to Muti's family
all those years ago in the war

the voting stalls as yet do not have cctv cameras
one can still vote secretly
fear it seems is running  through
the powerful politically correct
desperate to shut down the plebiscite

every day on the goggle box
we hear how the vast majority of the public
support same sex marriage

so no worries then  - it's in the bag
Or is it?
there's only one way to find out

The Australian Government has decided to have a plebiscite on same sex marriage in February 2017.
The majority vote will decide if this country accepts or does not accept same sex marriage .Homosexuality is not illegal in Australia and under Australian Federal Law, homosexual cohabitation is already regarded as the same as a heterosexual defacto relationship, with the same rights.

Unlike most other countries,Australia has compulsory voting ...There is strong opposition by same sex marriage supporters in the community to a plebiscite.

  1. An excellent portrait of a suppressive nanny state; another good read here, Rall'.

  2. I understand the right to have personal beliefs. But others should be able to hold theirs too without fear of the mainstream right?

  3. ummmm...acceptance of injustice is a sign of weakness methinks..that might be termed as tolerance...nice points made :)

  4. We have to have a plebiscite at great expense because the parliament was unwilling vote on it thus incurring another huge expense the country can't afford! The public may be so annoyed that they may vote against it on principal. Whatever the result the government could always reject the result! We must be crazy.

  5. The government will accept the result to either change or not change the law on the existing definition of marriage which currently is between a man and a woman.

    1. It is a spurious argument to say that the Australian public will vote NO because they are being compelled to vote on this matter. They voted YES when they were compelled to vote on giving indigenous Australians full rights as citizens in the 60s.

  6. a thought-provoking poem indeed - love the Voltaire quote too
instead of plain propaganda to force our views we are being 'nudged' into acceptance via the herd view who are the easiest to round up and spread the word noisily and aggressively. No wonder we dread the thought police as we cower with our children in the corners of our rooms away from TV and social media!

  7. Having gone through BREXIT a public vote seems quite terrifying - hopefully we will always have freedom of speech however

  8. Well as governments do not reflect the views of most of the people I suppose it is a way of finding out what each voter wants.

It is scaring a lot of people because it may not be the vote they are hoping for. After the shock of the BREXIT result , one cannot really trust polls.

Although only 72% of the UK population voted, the result was very close and if(100,000 voters) 6% of the 28% (12.9 million voters who did not vote)voted to stay..the result would be different.

If Britain had compulsory voting it is more than likely you would still be in the EU.So 52% of Brits who voted and won are pleased you don't...48% of Brits who voted and lost would probably think it would have been a good idea because they would have won.

Thus herein lies your maths lesson for today:)
    Yawn!!!!

  10. Wow, it astounds me it has taken this long to even start having this discussion at the legislative level...........I hope it turns out well. You have stated the case eloquently. I wish more people knew how important it is to vote and be counted.
