MLMM wants us to write a happy poem
since there is so much sad bad news lately.
cannot remember
when
this teapot spouted forth
a beautiful plume of floral happiness
which usually only happens
when in love and it is mutual
been a while
but still
occasionally the little golden lid rattles
at a random act of kindness
or a few kind complimentary words
this week i asked a mentally impaired man
if the duck and pepper pate he was buying
was any good
his face lit up like a beacon
obviously he was unused to being asked his opinion
or having a conversation with a stranger
made my day to make him happy
my hairdresser told me
the grey streaks in my hair were a lovely silver
a kind way of suggesting i should dye it
this made me slightly happy
my old wagon made it back to sydney
without a hiccup
happy happy happy
i have probably just jinxed myself
it is going to be sunny tomorrow
i'm going for a gentle spin around the bay
sit on a little beach you can only access by boat
and get some sunshine on my lovely silver streaks
and aging limbs:)
little nuggets of happiness are important
simple things - few and precious
need to squirrel them away in my purse
save them for dark rainy days
too many of late

Thank you for these little nuggets to brighten our day.

ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how many joys we can count each day. So glad the wagon made it back, maybe it could do with a treat at the service station.

Oh, a sweet one..."little happinesses" are really everywhere...but often we overlook them for something grander. I liked it, it seemed perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love these shining moments. They lift the heart - especially the man's beaming face at being spoken to so kindly.
ReplyDeleteSomeone said something like "treasure the little moments, because one day they will be known to have been the big moments". You planned day sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to follow your example and squirrel away those little nuggets o happiness, of which there are many. Thanks for a delightful read.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful moments you have captured here!
ReplyDeleteLife can be quite the mess, but there happy bits are there if we look--as you have. And when we share them, the happiness grows. Because I, too, felt happy the question made that man happy... and that's good for all of us, methinks.
ReplyDeleteI agree we do need to squirrel away our happy nuggets to bring out on those gloomy days...this was so lovely and made me smile!

ReplyDeleteLittle nuggets of happiness make up a life
ReplyDeleteBeautiful snippets of life. Happy yet a tinge of sadness is hiding there that cannot raise much of its head in this flow. Love the teapot and squirrel imagery.
