she only took pleasure
in little things
she led a quiet life
never had any news
she wrote and told him
a great night for her
was eating a ripe mango
while writing to him
in the early hours
she never heard from him again
Oh dear. I am sure she had hidden depths of experience as well! And was much too easily dismissed. Thanks for the cool poem and taste of mango at midnight! k

Sigh. Well, he did her a favor. I love her idea of a great night!
ReplyDeleteAwww...this started out peaceful but ended on a sad note. Still it's worthy of praise. Great write Rall.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely!
ReplyDeleteShe's better off without him.
ReplyDeleteThe sad saga of the midnight mango! Sounds like a great song title. Great write.
ReplyDeleteSometimes the heart needs to be spilled through ink. Such beautifully written melancholy.
ReplyDeleteThat is really a moment... a mango while writing to him. Really, I feel like I am her reading this.
ReplyDeletePeople who lead simple lives are dismissed so easily. Not really a sad tale.. she continues to enjoy her great nights without him
ReplyDeletePoignant.

Oh sad when those we love do not match our temperament....her life of simplicity seems blissful.
ReplyDeleteI like her simple living. Too bad he didn't understand her.
ReplyDeleteI guess he could have at least written back to say he didn't enjoy a mango. Sorry, such heartache.
ReplyDeleteI think she is much better off without one who does not appreciate the value in 'little things'.
ReplyDeleteI loved this. Telling him about the ripe mango would have entranced me. She can do better than him! Little things are important in a friendship.
ReplyDeleteHis loss. He certainly doesn't deserve her!
ReplyDeleteI just love this to bits - it made me smile and laugh.
