There's Something About Spring

it's getting late
been sitting here
for hours
soaking up the sun
soaking up  beauty
in this
little oasis of repose
rising above
the mayhem and madness
of the traffic

the spring lamb
is thawing on the back seat
the veggies are wilting

must wend my way home
to peel the potatoes
watch the bad news

still retaining
that nestled warmth
from what some might say
a 'wasted' unproductive afternoon
spent staring into the harbour

i could have stayed all night

  1. Watch the bad news...that's what sends us off looking for the nestled warmth.

  2. Thankfully, our daily routine is counterpoint to the angst of the world. I so resonate with your poem.

  6. staring into a harbor is never a wasted time. I've done this before back in the islands and the ocean is always beautiful and entertaining. thanks for this.

  7. I applaud such wasted time! We must leave enough margin of time to occasionally stay the night.

  12. Why give up experiencing the beauty for some wilting vegetables? We shouldn't ration ourselves for what pleases us but happily steal every joyous moment while we can.
