Sundays Whirligig

This weeks words  come from " The Great Horned Owl" by Sallie Wolf:

owl perched tree night birds sun

rose crows caws caused found flee

the crows plaintif  caws caused a flurry

flocks of birds

perched high in the jacaranda tree

flee just before sun up

the night owl

finds a bunch of red roses

on the table

her heart sinks

as she gingerly steps over

the broken glass

another peace offering

that means nothing

  3. I love the imagery in this poem, especially the flock of birds in the jacaranda tree. Gorgeous. The gift that means nothing.....very vivid.

  6. I interpreted it as a woman who does not accept her husband's peace offering. That she's a night owl, sleepless and in despair.

  8. Very cleverly done – each verse succinct and complete, yet adding together to form a whole greater than the sum of the parts.

  9. Peace offerings that mean nothing...

I am too intimately acquainted with them.
