You are not the first person to feel this way, there are countless thousands of us. Not sure about the 'no regrets' part though as we still think 'I wonder what if...?'
No regrets, but some tender memories. Ah yes! It's nice to arrive at a place where we can send them blessings in retrospect, give a smile and perhaps a brief hug to the sarong (or whatever) and be thankful for both the joy and the parting.
I so get this! The lines I find most poignant are: 'i have never been able to throw out your old blue sarong which languishes in threads at the bottom of the wardrobe'.
'life is filled with sadness sometimes it looms so large it stands in the way of love crushes every bit of spirit with its weight'.. sigh.. this is so painstakingly honest and wise.
The weight of regret/sadness is a strong image for me. This works well with the tune. May the full moon rise over this day, leaving the old day for memory.

ReplyDeletePoignant. Truly one of your best. I concur with Rosemary's comment...being thankful for both the joy and the parting.

ReplyDeleteOh, yes......nice to know one once was the love of someone's life. To remember what was good and to have no regrets.
ReplyDeleteLove that song. Wonderful response. I wish I could say the same about my X. Maybe someday?
ReplyDeleteRegret hangs heavy in this. May a new day come from sorrow.
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the sarong in the wardrobe - seems to speak volumes
ReplyDeleteNice. I like the sadness here, yet the resignation that one must be at peace with those difficult, ended relationships.
