Train Trip

awash with piss
rivers ran through corridors
thank god for platform shoes

i had no idea
how useful these platform shoes
would be in asia

i can only dream
of a train experience
of this type

porter bringing
breakfast on a silver tray
with flars

the train trip to northern nsw
was never quite like this though
there was a table cloth (plastic)

a little rugged
oz outback railway stations
something challenging

the desert is vast
take lots of gin a good book
nice  companion even better

a novel idea
if you have a well padded bottom
you may prefer the camel train

train porters in oz
wave the passengers farewell
very friendly service

  1. Travelling abroard is always an adventure, visiting a temple once in Bangkok I had to remove my shoes only to be bitten by waiting insects as I left to pick them up outside. I did survive!

    1. Admittedly this was a long time ago...it has been decades since those shoes were around.

  5. Ah, I wish we in this country had better train possibiities. Unless one wants to travel from big city to big city, forget it. And with the cost oftentimes it is better to fly. I really enjoy train travel in Europe.

  7. Loved these, as I have been longing for a train ride for a long time. Too expensive, in my part of the world.

  9. My experience of Indian trains wasn't quite that bad, I'm glad to say! I enjoy train travel in Australia.
