Happy Birthday

happy birthday nana
i loved your messy bedroom
dressing up in your fox fur and hats
rummaging in the strange world
of your dressing table drawers
a treasure trove of
potions  and scent bottles

crawling in between you and grandpa
under the big pink satin duvet
was the safest feeling
i have ever known

your name was not charity
but you personified it
through every pore of your being

i miss you
i still think of you
i thank you
i love you

  4. the smallest of moments ... the sneaking under the covers, to wedge, most likely in giggles and smiles, to finger-drift search for the treasures, on display, tucked and nooked away - how lovely this sad and wistful walk down memory lane ...

  6. I so relate to this. I was safest with my grandma too and owe her my life, really. She was so generous, too. If anyone admired anything of hers - and she lived very modestly - she would immediately give it to them.
