For The Weekend
watcha doing now
on the other side of the world
drinking bourbon
blowing smoke rings
in the air
closed eyes
listening to Al
thinking those
friday night thoughts
full of sighs
skipping on star trails
i can read them you know
imaginary garden with real toads
Loved Al Green....love those Friday night thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThose Friday night thoughts...and Al Green. I loved Al. Thank you for posting to my prompt.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly know how to set a mood, sigh.
ReplyDeleteAhh... smoke rings...those were the days.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!💞 You certainly know how to capture the mood, love it!💞
ReplyDeleteCan't beat Al Green, though I've heard it's not easy bein' green. I really like this reflective poem and the mood it establishes. Warm holiday wishes to you from the other side of the world.
ReplyDeleteLikewise. Thank you Timteo.
DeleteA very moody, atmospheric write — "skipping on star trails" is such a cool line.
ReplyDeleteLove the rhythm and feel of this piece. Nicely done.

Ah smoke ring thinking...love it. I so love Al Green.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Rall. Have not read your words in years! I this this piece you've written here, very enjoyable to read. Same spirit I remember...
ReplyDeleteI see you posted the RWP Anthology. I also link to it from my Image & Verse site. In case you forgot me, or wish you had, I am #52 in the Anthology, "The Nature Of Fire".
Yes...my artwork was chosen for the cover of the anthology. Remember being very chuffed about it.I think we must be the only the only two survivors left from the RWP days.Good to see you writing again.
ReplyDeleteI publish "Wrier's Island" offering prompts for about 5 years after RWP. I see some poets I remember from WI, but not RWP? Nice to read your words again Rall. See ya round the ink well...
