the earth venus and jupiter
lined up
in the foreboding universe
in view
of a red bleak hostile mars
waiting
for another earthling catastrophe knowing their propensity
destroy and most likely pollute yet another planet
again
*A waltmarie is a ten-line poem in which the even lines are all two syllables in length and form their own mini-poem if read separately.

This is wonderful ... funny/frightening/truth.
ReplyDeleteThat is so true, and now there is "trash" on the moon and Mars.

DeleteYou not only got out of the box, but into the universe! Is this “big brother” watching?
ReplyDeleteWell done! And I agree with the viewpoint.
ReplyDeleteOUCH! Applause from my corner for this one!
ReplyDeleteYes, we can't care for our own planet properly so really we should keep well away for those planets that haven't developed to our extent.
ReplyDeleteWe humans seem an awkward lot in this universe, don’t we Rall?
ReplyDeleteSad, but true! So well written!!! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
ReplyDeleteYeah, if it's possible to feel bad for a planet, I feel bad for Mars. :/
ReplyDeleteWe have a tarnished reputation it seems... Well penned!
ReplyDeleteThe moon yesterday, Mars today, where next?
ReplyDeleteI fear you are correct at what the future holds whenever humans are involved.
ReplyDeleteGreat write, powerful.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting format, Rall. I find it outrageous that governments are spending money on spaceships and saying they "cant afford" addressing the climate crisis. Wait till they see how expensive not doing so is. Looking at Texas, we have a pretty good idea.
ReplyDeleteEvery breath we take mucks the starscape ... Great to see you at earthweal ...
ReplyDeleteBrilliant. I too have wondered that about latest invasion of Mars. I agree with your take on the whole thing. Suzanne of Wordpress blog - Mapping Uncertainty
