The Sunday Muse # 163 / Writers Pantry # 73

it would never let her down

no one could take it away from her

it would be a source of solace and comfort

for her whole life

a buffer against a cruel world

an escape into another realm

she was only fourteen

i don't know how she knew

  2. Beautiful "take" on the image. Music is often an escape in the teen years, methinks!

  13. I love your interpretation of this photo. I can see your poem in her expression, in her connection to the instrument... So young and so lucky.

  15. This poem goes straight to my heart. It reminds me so much of my youngest who began playing the cello when she was 11.

  19. I really like this. It reminds me of how I began writing in a journal when I was 5, and that has really carried me through. To borrow your last line, "i don't know how she knew."
