a still life
of mango watermelon
grapes and a vase of poppies
greets me at breakfast
the sight and smells
of spring
today
all my bright red mats
have dried in the warm breeze
dotted throughout the palms
on the balcony
today
the sail boats
glide like swans speeding
across the horizon
a pod of dolphins
puts on a display
showing off again
today
feels good
today
is not a day
to watch the news
today is a day of joy
remembering you
playing my lady hunsdon's puffe
all those years ago
Such beauty all around....I love the swans and dolphins and the red mats drying in the sun.........all so much brighter than the news! So glad you wrote to the prompt, Rall.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day you describe. No news watching is good any day. I’ve reduced my watching to bare minimum.
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the sail boats. I agree not a good day to watch the news.
ReplyDeleteThose small details are what tether us to life.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying every stanza and came to a halt with that last line... and SO agree. We desperately need those "news free" days. I do catch bits, but I MUST spend more time on life.
ReplyDeleteAirly lit and breezily sung -- beauty soft as breath!
ReplyDeleteToday is that day. It's always to be appreciated today. Love this sing songy piece. Lovely. And indeed, don't turn on the tube. It ruins the rhythm of a perfect day like today. Stay safe.
ReplyDeletelovely poem, a breath of fresh air! JIM
