the three sisters
in the blue mountains
a rite of passage
for children of my generation
have not seen them for about
half a century
they have not aged a bit

Three sisters in front of the Three Sisters Blue Mountains NSW circa 1920
long gone
a faded memory
in an old photograph
together and smiling
in a better place now
Your Three Sisters are beautiful ~~ I also have Three Sisters ~ North, Middle and South ~~~ In our Cascade Range. I make it a priority to look at them daily ~ gorgeous with their deep snow cover. South Sister is the hiker’s favorite. A bit too rugged for this lady. Let’s hope our Sisters never change.
ReplyDeleteI have 3 brothers: 1 dead; 1 a Neo-Nazi; 1 in prison for murder. I feel like an only child. But I've got a sister. We're meeting up today for lunch. She's the only one who matters to me.
ReplyDeleteFine work, R. Thanks
What a lovely reminiscence! And how sweet (and how could they have resisted?) posing the three sisters in front of the Three Sisters?
ReplyDeleteClever photo for the clever poem. I can't decide, the picture looks like the start of showing as monastery on the upper left. That would make it Switzerland.
