Sunday Muse # 197 ,,,Earthweal Open Link Weekend # 104

 thoughts of you

dear madame defarge

tricoteuse tragic knitting away

as the heads were displayed

the crowds cheered hooray

the streets ran like rivers of blood

the drums beat to the continual thud

people moved out because of the smell

an aristocrat's life became sheer hell

things had changed since the time of plenty

now their houses ransacked were all but empty

let them eat cake

she shouldn't have said

being a smart arse sadly

can cost you your head

  1. Intense and well done Rall! The rhyme is wonderful! A time in history never forgotten for those who still had their heads about them.

  2. A horrifying thought that any little bit of sarcasm could trip a tongue onto the guillotine.

  3. Oooh, very dark! And yet haven't so many tales ended that way in times bygone? Best to play dumb sometimes! :-)

  7. I like the shape of the poem, which looks like a tree to me.
