Whirligig # 391

careful how you move

the crows have already disturbed the stillness of the bush

the spider subtly holds you back in its web

the salty tears from your eyes stain your mouth

you want the sky without

the moon and the stars

THIS WEEK'S WORDS come from "The Dead Are Beautiful Tonight" by Luther Hughes: stain, stillness, subtle, sky, crows, bush, back, careful, web, salt, mouth, eyes

  1. Really! Unbelievable how you magically made a poem with all those words! A fine poem.

  2. Lesson, keep your mouth shut when you cry tears.
Mine is a silent sob, not tears (anymore).

  5. If you hadn't told us this was inspired by a word list, I would've never known. The lines are so smooth.. And the ending is perfect.

  6. It is quite an achievement to write this and have readers be blinded to the fact that there was a word list.
