Gratitude
always thought
i would be alone
you changed that
our meeting
almost forty years ago
has been a God send
the truth is
when things go awry
you are there
when sadness
crumples one into a heap
your warm cuddle helps
without you
my life is over
stay around
don't leave me
i hope i cross the styx first
i will be waiting

ReplyDeleteI think about my partner/wife Mary and I. We are 71 (her) and 65 (me) thinking of how when we love it is at a cost: one or the other will leave first. But yet.. I would not have chosen NOT to love
