Nancy Wake
a feisty up front Aussie chick
who saved thousands of lives in ww2
she made it her life's work
to bugger up the Nazis
after she witnessed the way the jews
were treated in Vienna before the war
" I have only one thing to say:
I killed a lot of Germans, and I 'm only sorry
I didn't kill more."

"she made it her life's work"--Feisty lady! I had to look up Nancy Wake--"the white mouse"--and watched the video. Your poem is short and to the point (to the prompt). I could read a lot more about this one! Good subject. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of this person. I am glad she obstructed the Nazis, though I am never happy with any killing. I have a great interest in WWII, and learned something from this post.
ReplyDeleteAmazing women like this, and there were many during the war, have been forgotten. Poems like yours remind us of them, Rall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for writing about Nancy Mace! She definitely sounds like a feisty woman with motivation and courage! I will find out more about her.
ReplyDeleteI had to look up Nancy Wake too. Such courage inspires. And that quote is remarkable. Love this homage to Nancy wake.
ReplyDeleteI was unaware of Nancy Wake....I wonder if there are any modern day characters like her to be found....
ReplyDeleteI hope America has a few Nancy Wakes in the wings...
