WHAT'S GOING ON....Capture an Image

FOR MY GRANDMOTHER.....ADELE ALEXANDRINE LUDIVINE

i still cherish those memories
of you in your rocking chair
embroidering
a glow of contentment radiating
from your beautiful face

your leisure time didn't happen often enough
you worked such long hours to give us everything
you could
to give us opportunities you never had

without you
i would never have had the experience
of ever being truly loved
merci ma chere grandmere

  1. These are truly golden memories. Very few are so lucky to have such loving grandmas. I could also see her in rocking chair, embroidering, radiating love. Beautiful.

In leisure and in work, she gave to you! What a model of love.

  3. I feel exactly the same way about my grandma. She moved through life with such serenity and, thus, she showed me how. This is a moving and beautiful poem, Rall.

  4. Reminds me of my mom, now long deceased. She spent much time in her rocker with a cup of coffee by her side. Either reading, watching her TV programs, or listening to her favorite radio program.

  5. The ending is heartfelt, Rall! What a wonderful loving grandmother she must have been. Was that an example of her embroidery?

  6. No, I still have some of her embroideries but dont have the time to takes pics. They are similar and she also did crochet and made most of our dresses. Very talented creative seamstress. I remember once being discussed at another table in a restaurant when I was young and overheard " but the dress is very expensive....of course I would remember something like that when I remember the fabric only costing 2 dollars a metre. She could make a silk purse out of a sow's ear:)

  7. What a touching and beautiful tribute to your grandmother - delicate in your remembering as her stitching. You have captured both the tangible and the emotional - Jae
