THE SKEPTIC"S KADDISH W3 #195...MEMENTO

transforming into a hippy
a big life change and so
different

from the harbourside to the bush
a down to basics life
for sure

miss glamourpuss does washing day
the cows mooing so softly
outside

a peaceful life in the bush
no longer happening
right now

so back to the city again
the bush a memory
long gone

a contrast in different settings
city life country life
both good

  1. A warm and balanced poem, Rall. I once knew someone who did the same in Australia, spending quite a few years without running water and electricity somewhere out in the bush. Great, if you have the energy!

  2. Loved reading about your journey from city to bush to city, Rall. And to hear how they are 'both good'. Great photos too! As Shaun says, your memento is both warm and beautifully balanced.

  3. Lovely to read about your journey from city to bush to city. And that you hold both experiences as good memories. As Shaun says, your memento is both warm and beautifully balanced. Thank you for sharing with us, Rall.

  8. Rall, I really like how the poem keeps shifting its footing. The move from “a peaceful life in the bush / no longer happening / right now” to “both good” feels honest to me—less nostalgia, more lived adjustment.
