What's Going On....BLESSINGS

living near the ocean
at the bottom of the world
food on the table
shelter
no wars

still has all of her marbles
too many don't at any age
(half of America voted for Trump )
point taken

free from materialism
not tempted by persistent propaganda
to consume and conform to societal trends
only impressed by genuine kindness
lack of self centredness and if talent
is thrown into the mix even better

belonging to little poetry comunities online
sharing poems with like minded folk from far away places
whom she would have never encountered
they show her more kindness than people she has known
all her life

finding peace
and self esteem
by shutting the door on
those who don't value her
regardless of who they are

and finally
a total surprise
a new person in her life
a musician of similar age
who actually enjoys talking to her
on the telephone

always pleased to hear from her
wants to take her to lunch
gifts her books of his poems and autobiography

  1. Oh WOW, this is wonderful, Rall. So many blessings, and I agree with our online community being one of the blessings. Online friends know me far better than my family does - because they read the words from my heart, which my family finds peculiar. Smiles. I especially love the surprise connection. How delightful.

Oh, yes! And all your other blessings resonate with me, too. The peace and self-esteem cannot be underestimated. Good poem.

  6. I really enjoyed reading about your blessings, Rall! There really are so many in any person's life if one really stops to look. So nice that you have met a new person who you enjoy....so hard to do after a certain point in life. May your blessings continue & grow!

  7. We can bless ourselves with our view of the world. Something that we struggle to learn. I did, anyway! Nice write Rall 👏

  8. I think as poets we bond with other poets as we think in the same vein of thought. Brightest blessing
