THE SKEPTICS KADDISH W3 Prompt # 218

PROMPT

Sometimes we think of someone who drifted out of our lives. What emotions, memories, thoughts does it evoke?

sometimes a sad melody
in the heat of the late afternoon
casts long shadows
across the dying embers of the day
and you remember

you hear their gentle laughter
you remember their sweetness
their vulnerability
their goodness
the veil of hurt that bound them together
you wanted to save them
but you could not
you turned around and walked away
you saved yourself and it broke your heart

  1. Rall, what moves me most is how the sad song brings back the hard truth that sometimes you have to save yourself, even when it breaks your heart.

    Much love,

  2. Rall, I love your poem. Its opening lines bring to mind sad but beautiful scenes I've observed but could not find words to express. You've expressed them so well, so beautifully.

As I type my comments I cannot find the right words to describe the beauty I see in your style of expression. This is poetry, raw, natural, rich. Well done ❤️Rall❤️👏
