FRIDAY WRITINGS # 241....POETS and STORY TELLERS UNITED... CHANGE

THINGS HAVE CHANGED

IT'S A DIFFERENT WORLD NOW

child's play
in a different world
no cell phones
no internet
just tea parties
for your dolls

back then
this was everyones dream kitchen
it's still mine

eccentric maiden aunts
owned a budgie canary or cocky
they enjoyed a close relationship
with their birds
developing similarities

birthday cards
christmas cards
they came by mail
a lovely tradition
no longer

before television
the wireless
a magical source
of entertainment
of information
in every household

odds and ends
nothing was wasted
clothes were costly
before cheap imports

diy..make it your self
creativity
the mother of necessity

little girls
used to wear dresses
ribbon bows in their hair
they visited the library
they knew how to read
there were no insane demands
by big tech
on the individual

people knew how to talk
to each other
were not glued
to cell phones

  1. My mother had the same lovely sewing machine you have pictured! Not all things were perfect then, although in many ways society has regressed as it progresses.

  2. Yes, the changes are huge, and I must agree that in many respects it was better before! (My schoolgirl French will get me that far.)
Is that you in the pics with the gorgeous boho dresses? Gorgeous wearer too! (I long for our hippy days.)
LOL to the list of password requirements.
