GET IT ON

Whoo hoo Day 3o PARTY TIME
Shakataka BOOM
Prompt: Anything goes!

To be sung with maracas and a cocktail to the tune " Copacobana"

Her name was Barbra
She was a show girl
with yellow feathers in her hair
and a dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the chacha
And while she tried to be a star
Joseph Harker'd from afar
He worked the crowded room
He worked each poet to score
He was young and he had den mothers
Who could ask for more

CHORUS
At the top blog...RWP site
The hottest site north of Havana
At the top blog...RWP site
Music and words were always head bangers
At RWP...time cut too shooort

Her name was Lola
Another show girl
But that was thirty years ago
when her and Barbra had a show
And now her new name is Rallentanda
Still in the dress she used to wear
faded feathers in her hair
She drank herself half blind
And drives the other poets wild
She lost her youth and she lost RWP
Now she's lost her mind

CHORUS

  1. Now it's all over, like Morrisey said, "I was happy in the haze of a drunken hour, but heaven knows I'm miserable now..."

  2. Great fun, Rallentanda! And I did sing it rather than just read it. But I had to substitute a jar of popping corn for my maracas (which, sadly, I left in Barry's car)...

PS: Enjoyed the Goodbye RWP collage!

  18. Rall,
You have been a delight for the past 30 days and also before on RWP. Love your sense of humour. :) I love this! I tired to sing it but scared my dogs, oops!

  19. Thankyou Pamela. Now if you owned a couple of Aussie blue heelers you wouldn't have this problem. One would think those Mexican dogs of yours would be more musical. Send them to live with the Mariachi band for a while.

  20. Is there a Mr. Pommeroy? Some of us were wondering...

  21. I think I'm drunk on poetry too, Rall, having read every one of today's poems. It's been a wonderful month meeting all these splendid people. I REALLY don't want it to stop.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well Viv there are so many poetry sites on the net.You could do a daily poem easily.Mine is the only one that is going to be steam driven..no widgets gidgets linkettes. It will be smallish with conversation through the comment section of our poems. After all it is a poet refugee camp.Think of it as comfortable camping out with excellent company and poems to match.

  24. Of course I sang this and had a Barry Manilow tribute for half an hour. I always love a party, Rall! You have such a grand and glorious spirit! I wish we could all go on and on together. But then this poetic phenomenon wouldn't be as special as it has been for me ... I will be sure to look for you!

Many thanks to you for reading my work, commenting, and making this all so much fun!

  25. This is going to be stuck. In. My. Head. All day.

I better go get my tux from the dry cleaning. I feel like you can't read this without wearing a tux and shimmying back in forth in your seat. No wonder the people in the cafe are looking at me strangely. ^__^

  26. Barbra Seville, you are a crazy lady yourself.
I don't like endings either. My butt looks enormous all the time.

There's a nice feel of the Black Douglas about you!

'See you soon on the other side?' I'm not that old Wayne but far too old for wild parties. I feel wretched (rat shit) today. It's your tomorrow afternoon here and I am still in bed.Mr Long Suffering has just brought me some tea.

  36. Dan Rako, Miss Pommeroy is a Miss. She would like to be married to a suitable person, a top professional who can afford a very expensive life style is conservative and a pillar of the establishment. After marriage at a later date
she might consider having an affair with an
attractive young artist or poet so she can appear interesting and modern to the other
    air head wives.High maintenance.

  39. Andy and Wayne are going to need a dose of
therapeutic poetry to recover from this party.
Next party, serving fruit punch poetry only.
Too many pisspot poets are taking advantage of these celebrations and blaming me for their hangovers.

  40. Rall, quite interested in your new endeavor, so I'll be checking in about details about how to opt in. You are an ascended master/goddess of poetry and I must continue reading your material. Cheers and look forward to reconnecting.
