Napowrimo poem Day 12
Prompt: Poem about inaminate object
and a secret code
'I'm a little D Stick short and stout'
There are too many of us
abandoned unused
left alone
in dark bathroom cupboards
dragged out for the occasional
wedding or funeral
It seems very unfair as
my cousins toothbrush and toothpaste
get a daily airing and use
Stand in a crowded bus or bank queue
in summer and you will realise the
deoderant stick's great importance
in the scheme of things
I have enlisted the help of
two competent senior detectors
who are committed to the deoderant cause
Both have lost loved ones
to rank body odour
They are conducting surprise spot checks
at various venues
You can also call
'dob in a stinker ' on the following number
using the secret code word ' nose peg'
( This is a free call authorised by your local
State Government Authority)
The weather here right now means you'd have to be an aerosol not to use it...
ReplyDeleteHa...I remember Stan!
ReplyDeleteRall,
ReplyDeleteAre they really conducting random spot checks? Good!

I'd say "sweet", but wrong word today I think. And you get a gold star alone for that header photograph. (Ha! And this reminds me of more dire news, cows add ozone orally! True. Would I lie? But really, not posterior, but by belching it's reported. And I wanna know who's got that job, sniffing the bovine breath!!) Nice play!
ReplyDeleteLoved the photo and the clever poem. Wish we could get those senior detectors to do something at a few places that I end up coming/going to.
ReplyDeleteWhere on earth did you find that picture of the surprise spot checks? Charming piece.
ReplyDeleteThis is "all you could come up with?" This is gold, Rall! Title is hilarious and I can not imagine where you found the photo! Wonderful piece!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Willow. It was in a shop window.I cant remember what it was for... skin problems or allegies maybe. On my walks I take photos that I think would be good for poetry prompts.
ReplyDeletethere is an old bluegrass/gospel tune you'd love--

ReplyDeleteThanks everyone
ReplyDeletePhew, a decoderant perhaps?
ReplyDeletebtw, an anagram of nose peg could be spongee, if you want a nice puck. Love the 'peg' picture, I've done that and I know it hurts!
The phrases and images roll wonderfully right through.
