What's On Your Mind?

I always have a lot on my mind , so for this prompt I could be posting all week.
You can too if you like.

Born Again

I hail from the sea
rebirthed as a cowrie shell

No doubt I'll end up on
a mantlepiece or bedside table

A smooth speckled silent witness
privy to all the intimacies and
secrets no one ever sees

Sometimes I whisper sad wind songs
into an ear or am hurled at the Great
Dane jumping on to the bed

Reincarnation can be tricky

  1. Ah, that turns nicely. Makes me glad that I always speak politely to inanimate objects.

  3. I want to come back as a whale, but I don't think I live my life well enough to merit that honor. But a conch shell? Some soul must have worked hard at being a pebble to move up to that status. ;) It might be a carnival ride to be thrown at the dog, try it more often. (just kidding doggie!)

Great piece, Rall. So this week's prompt is whatever is on our mind? hmmmm....

I wrote a piece about diamonds last night for a different site, and would like to know what people think...so here it is!

  4. A cowrie shell Brenda. See pic in side column.
My grandmother use to use these for darning.
    Yes I am that old!

  5. Drawn in by the premise, touched by the transformation, lulled by the "Sometimes I whisper sad wind songs /into an ear" and then caught by happy surprise to read about your possible projection.

Cowrie shells are sturdy; but, I think I want to stay dead for a while before returning. I need the rest.

  6. Here's what's on my mind just now - doggerel.

    The value of internet friends
    cannot be exaggerated.
When I'm down, going round the bend,
I go online to be re-created.
    Blogs galore
    to be explored,
    chats with chums
    and the ether hums
    with our jungle drums.
Yet here I am alone in my eyrie
while virtual friends all make me cheery. (groan)

  7. Hitting the turps with jungle drums. You shouldn't scare your poor French neighbours like that Viv!If there is another Norman invasion we will know who to blame.

  8. I agree Linda...one does get a lot of rest in death!I am returning as a cat with an owner just like me...my opportunity to live the perfect life!

  9. On the whole, a cat has a perfect life, specially with all the human slaves who do its bidding. I should like to be a house cat. But spare a thought for the hordes of scraggy feral cats scratching a living under tourist tables in some countries - eg Greece and Spain.

  10. Well Viv you can come back as Croesus and save all the scraggy cats of the world!

  12. Rall I like this poem. Now if I am to come back as a shell I suppose I could think of worse things to be. Thanks for inspiring me with this prompt! I wrote two in fact.
