NIGHT DRIVE

tearing along highways
empty
except for the
carnival lights
of road trains

an orange full moon
white lines
red
reflectors
magic

the landscape's
flood lit
mountain ranges
dance to
full blast
Gaga

excitement
don't let this end
let's just keep on going
'Yes' he said

smiles
smiles that happen
with speed
plans that happen
with flash lightning

laughs
laughs and squeals
that happen
with danger
of pea soup fog
all the way into
the metropolis

look left
on the bridge
wow!
and there she is
lights
marquesite jewels
on black velvet
winking
on a mirror of
glassy water

gorgeous seductress
how many time have I tried
to stay away
leave you
never to return

every time I see you
a lump in my throat
rises as I gasp
at your beauty
as if for the first time
especially at night

i'm running again
but I know I will
die in your arms

the way I feel this morning
after a 10 hour magical
adrenalin pumping drive
it will be sooner rather than later

  1. Oh, yeah. You have tapped that rush. (and its dim side afterward) Those first three stanzas are magic.
